Odyssey Health Club

The Site

Forge Design Studio have had the pleasure of working with the team at Odyssey Health Club for several years on a wide range of projects.

The initial appointment was to redevelop the overall site associated with the health club, this comprised of vacant land, disused pitches, redundant buildings and sports structures. It was important that these areas of redundant land were used sufficiently to increase the long-term viability of the club and provide a much needed income which would then be utilised to improve the business and, fundamentally, its offer to members.

After a thorough design and planning process, consent was granted for 80 units on the Health Club Site in May 2017.  Following on from the consent the owners have appointed a developer to implement the scheme and all associated works.

Due to the success of the residential development application, the owners retained Forge Design Studio to redevelop the health club and help to bring it in line with its current competitors in the area.

These projects included; new changing rooms, redevelopment of underused indoor squash courts to create a new spa with retail / dining areas and a pilates studio on a new intermittent upper floor.

The changes to the interior of the Health Club were so successful and well received by members, that the owners appointed us to look at the overall masterplan of the Health Club to create a phased redevelopment to improve and add to the facilities on offer.

These phases comprise of; a new entrance, additional tennis courts, an outdoor heated swimming pool, heat experience treatment suite and an outdoor training space.

The proposals were granted Full Planning Consent and work is underway on the first phase including a new Front Entrance to bring this vision to life.
