Michael originally led the team on the Feasibility Studies and Site Appraisals under the Dorset County Council Framework in 2006. A new site was identified on the edge of the village: this resulted in extensive legal and planning negotiations. After a period of time the County Council re-appointed the practice to bring the detailed designs forward to RIBA Stage D, Planning Submission. The final scheme is a single storey, low profile building intended to 'nestle' into the landscape.
The brief and final designs evolved over a period of time and extensive consultation was undertaken with the Council, Staff, Governors, Parents, Pupils, Stakeholders and Local Community. The new site for the building is in a sensitive location, which required extensive study and visual appraisal. After a lengthy process detailed consent was granted and the County Council are now delivering the project.
