Rural Diversity Project

The Site

Forge Design Studio have worked closely with our Client on this exciting opportunity. Building on their current success with the first location in the West Country, we have created a design concept which responds to the existing buildings, landscape and setting. The scheme has been developed to feasibility stage sufficient to assist in the securing of the site through close collaboration with the Estate Owners.

The brief provides a retail opportunity for local producers and suppliers with a firm and deep-routed commitment to create a sustainable model based on sound local economics. The bright and lively interior demands close attention to detail and good understanding of the retail habits of the target demographic.

Circulation and movement around the site is key to the success of the project. Strong links between external areas and interior spaces for eating, relaxing and playing are at the heart of the company ethos.

Integration of well-being activities in the form of studio and education spaces have been considered and are included within the design – conversion of the existing agricultural buildings and barns to form a range of accommodation has captured the best use of the former farm

As designers we have worked hard to capture the essence of the brand and to realise the vision for the future prosperity of the development. We believe this is reflected in the proposed masterplan
